Free Dementia Support Event Coming To Searcy October 2

Individuals, families and caregivers affected by dementia and serious illness will have an opportunity to receive free education, resources and support during a special event coming to Searcy.

LifeTouch Health and Alzheimer’s Arkansas will co-sponsor “Support Starts Here” Friday, October 2, from 8:30 AM until 2:30 PM at the White County Cooperative Extension Office, 2400 Landing Road in Searcy.

Registration and lunch are free, but seating is limited and advance registration is required.

EVENT DESIGNED TO HELP FAMILIES AND CAREGIVERS

Organizers say the event will bring together healthcare and community resources to help attendees better understand dementia care, prepare for future needs and address some of the challenges associated with caregiving.

Registration begins at 8:30 AM.

Searcy Mayor Mat Faulkner will welcome attendees at 9 AM.

Morning sessions are scheduled to include behavioral health information from Unity Behavioral Health, advance directives presented by LifeTouch Health and elder law planning with EEPA.

CAREGIVER GRIEF AND DEMENTIA EXPERIENCE INCLUDED

Afternoon programming will include “When Love and Loss Coexist: Understanding Caregiver Grief” along with “The Dementia Experience” presented by Alzheimer’s Arkansas.

The schedule also includes an exercise session and an opportunity for questions and answers.

Door prizes will also be available during the event.

Organizers say “Support Starts Here” is intended to give caregivers and families an opportunity to connect with resources and support while learning more about both the practical and emotional needs that can accompany dementia and serious illness.

FREE REGISTRATION REQUIRED
